PROGRAM TOPICS - Session 1 (all 4 weeks):
It is our goal to provide a wide range of topics, presented in a traditional style in order for both the beginner and more advanced maker to build a solid foundation from which to branch out in their pursuit of excellence in violin making. Each participant will be allowed a dedicated 1/2 hour period with Mr. Darnton in which they may ask questions and/or present their projects.
| Week 1: | Design and edges, purfling and making purfling, archings, other topics as required (all 3 weeks) |
| Week 2: | f-holes, graduations, bass bar |
| Week 3: | Scrolls/neck/fingerboard/nuts and saddles, Setup |
| Week 4: | Overview of all issues plus varnish considerations and certification photography |
Mr. Darnton will be on hand to deal with all these issues and more. The sessions will not be limited to the topic at hand. A great deal of information is given throughout the sessions and in the evenings. The amount of information you can expect to leave with is tremendous. Attendees must provide their own hand tools and clamps. Large tools will be available at the site. More information available on enrollment. Individual work lights will be provided. Your tools may be shipped to the event host prior to arrival.
